Forest School
Forest School offers students the opportunity to learn beyond the classroom while developing confidence, resilience and teamwork in a natural environment.
Through practical outdoor activities, students are encouraged to challenge themselves, solve problems and develop the independence needed to succeed both in education and later life. Learning outdoors allows students to experience success in different ways while developing practical skills that cannot always be taught in a traditional classroom.
Throughout the year, students will take part in a wide range of practical activities including:
• Shelter building
• Campfire cooking
• Fire lighting and fire management
• Woodland crafts
• Safe tool use
• Environmental conservation
• Problem-solving challenges
• Team-building activities
Every activity has been carefully planned to develop confidence, communication and resilience while encouraging students to appreciate and care for the natural environment.
Forest School develops teamwork, leadership, communication, planning, resilience and problem solving. Students also develop emotional regulation, confidence and independence while learning to reflect on their own progress and achievements. These are valuable life skills that support future education, employment and everyday life.
